Rich, sugary caramels are easy to make, sweet to the taste and make great, simple gifts. Plus, a little goes a long way. These little individual wrapped sweets make a great pillow topper for overnight guests or a nice after-dinner sweet. Or fill decorative cellophane bags and tie with ribbon for Christmas presents.
4 cups granulated sugar
2 cups white Karo Syrup
1 can Eagle Brand Milk
1 cup butter
Combine ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat, melting the ingredients together. Stirring constantly, slowly increase the temperature to bring the mixture to a boil. Continue to stir the caramel until it reaches a firm ball stage. Pour the caramel into a 18" x 12" greased cookie sheet. Once the caramel has partially set, cut the candy with kitchen shears or caramel cutter, then wrap the individual pieces in wax paper or waxed candy wrappers.
