Ice Cream Sandwiches
Just imagine
Just imagine... an ice cream truck
pulling into your driveway and the delivery man stepping out to hand you a
delicious, cool, refreshing ice cream treat every day! Ahhh... that's a great
dream! Now you can find that cool refreshing treat in your freezer everyday!!!
Create your favorite ice cream
sandwich right at home. Make your sandwich a
classic rectangular
shape and flavor, two chocolate cake layers filled with vanilla ice cream.
Or
for a little more fun create homemade ice cream sandwiches are as simple as 1,
2, 3 with our new
farm ice cream
sandwich molds. Bake a full sheet of cookies - cut out cookies in the animal
design of your choice - use the press to sandwich your favorite ice cream
between 2 cookies. Brightly colored designs are pig, cow, and chicken. The press
completes the sandwich with details that are pressed right into the cookie. It's
simple, it's fun, and it's tasty!!!! Our other set has
classic shapes
such as a heart, star, and square with rounded sides called a "squircle."
You can basically make any shape ice cream sandwich. You just need a cookie
cutter. Large simple cutters work best for dessert sandwiches, such as a circle,
diamond-shape or large animal shape.
Here are some simple procedures for
the kids to follow:
-
Follow directions on simple sugar
cookie mix and add food coloring to dough as needed for your particular shape.
Other rolled cookie batter works just as well, or add candies to regular sugar
cookie dough (like M&Ms or toffee crunches) to make your sandwich different.
-
Bake and decorate half of the
cookies as desired. Add eyes and a mouth to animals or a happy face to round
cookies using food decorating pens or candywriters.
Use
different colored icings and sanding sugars. Let the kids decorate with their
own ideas.
-
Choose your favorite flavor of ice
cream. (Suggestion: Mint chocolate chip would be a choice for frogs.) Cut a
slab of ice cream ½” thick and use the same cookie cutter to cut out same
shape of ice cream.
-
Working quickly so ice cream
doesn't melt, assemble the frog by placing an undecorated cookie on the
bottom, then the shaped ice cream slab, followed by the decorated cookie on
top. Wrap sandwich in plastic wrap and place in freezer to harden.
-
It is best to have all the cookies
decorated first, and then to assemble each sandwich individually.
