These aren't your Grandma's canning labels - they are actually transparent sleeves that fit over the jar, and then shrink-wrapped to fit your jar by immersing in hot water. No more sticky glue to clean off. Traditional labels are very elegantly designed in black and white (rectangle with rounded crown and filigree). There is plenty of room for writing on the front panel, plus a place to mark the month and year on the back. Great to use for home canned food gifts. The beautiful transparent label shows off more of the produce inside the jar! Easily remove labels by sliding knife under label and twisting. Fit most pint-size jars, 12/pkg. Made in USA from recyclable plastic.
INSTRUCTIONS
  • 1.Can your preserves as normal.
  • 2. Bring a pot of water to boiling. (Yes, your canning water bath is perfect for this!) Once it's boiling, turn off the stove for the rest of the process. This way you're not dealing with boiling hot steam unnecessarily.
  • 3. Write on your labels with a permanent marker (Sharpies are great), marking the contents and dates canned.
  • 4. Slip the label onto the jar, either from the top or the bottom. Position it just how you want it.
  • 5. Using canning tongs, place your jar into the water. Please don't burn yourself in this process! We like you and your competent canning hands and definitely don't want you to get hurt.
  • 6. If your water is hot enough to be close to a boil, the label will shrink immediately. If your water has cooled for any reason, the label may take a few seconds to shrink on. If at any time the label doesn't seem to have shrunk completely, reheat your water and dip the jar again.
  • 7. Store your fabulously labeled jar.
  • 8. When you open your jar to eat its contents, remember to write the date you've opened it on the back of the jar. That will help you to not throw out any good food or accidentally eat bad food!
  • 9. When you're finished with your label, carefully slip a knife under one of its edges and twist. With a few manipulations of the knife you should be able to easily remove the label.
  • 10. Enjoy your clean, readily reusable jar!
