It's the handiest basket you will ever keep in your kitchen! Your grandmother used it during canning season to blanch fruits and tomatoes. Now, you can use it to carry red-ripe garden tomatoes or freshly picked vegetables to the kitchen sink for rinsing and then straight to the stove for blanching. There is plenty of room for large batches with the 9" opening. When opened, the basket is approximately 6" deep, plus 3" more depth with barrier. The basket folds flat for convenient storage. Unit is one-piece and made of stainless steel.
A real time saver

I stewed 2 bussels of tomatos this year and this save me so much time blanching to remove the skins. I could do several large tomato batches at a time and skin them in half the time it takes me to do just a few the old way. I didn't burn myself once! A real pluse for canners. It works great with other fruits and veggies also. Wish I had found this a long time ago. Buy this and you won't be regret it when you do your home canning. Cleans up well also.

"I used this last year for tomatoes and peaches. It works great and allows me to blanch more at one time, remove the fruit all at one time to place under cold water and skin. I would recommend this to anyone who cans tomatoes, peaches, or any other fruit that needs to have the skin removed. You can also use it to steam vegies. for a meal."
Wouldn't have any other kind.

"I will be getting a new one. I started canning about 33-34 years ago. It's all I ever used. And now that I will be canning again, I need a new one. I was very disappointed in not being able to find one at the stores. It was suggested that I use a colander or the insert of a pasta pot. No way! Too much resistance. You want your produce in and out quickly and this type of basket is the only way you are going achieve that."
