Leavening agent called for in some cream puff, cookie, and springerle recipes. It is also called "hartshorn" and leaves no unpleasant alkaline off-flavor in your baked goods. Store in jar with tight cover. Ammonium carbonate powder (hartshorn). 2.7 oz. pkg.

"We have a family recipe for ""Dream Cookies"" made with butter, flour, sugar and coconut. It needs Baker's Ammonia to rise properly. The Internet says you can use 4 times the amount of baking powder, but that makes the cookie taste awful (and it doesn't puff up). Thanks to Kitchen Krafts for having this item available!! Oh, and it is great for the cream puff shells too!"
