How to make cream cheese mints

All those yummy mints you find at showers, weddings, confirmations and graduations can be created by you! In fact, mints are one of the easiest candies for a beginner to try.
The hardest part is picking the shape of the mint! But Kitchen Krafts can help. With a number of molds to choose from you'll find an appropriate design for any occasion. There are 2 styles of molds available: yellow flex and gray rubber molds. Both are equally easy to use. Browse our selection online.
Now for the recipe...
- 2 oz. of cream cheese (room temperature)
- 1/8 teaspoon oil of peppermint*
- 1-2/3 cups powdered sugar
- Food color (optional)*
- Granulated sugar
In a large bowl mash cream cheese, add flavoring and coloring; gradually mix in powdered sugar. Knead mixture with hands until consistency of pie dough. Form small balls and roll each in granulated sugar. (The sugar prevents the cream cheese mixture from sticking to the mold.) Gently press the ball of dough into the mold cavity, smoothing off any excess. Unmold immediately onto a dry, flat surface. Refrigerate until ready to serve. These mints also freeze easily and are great to prepare in advance for those big events like weddings, graduations, etc.
*For the innovative candymaker - use any color or flavoring. Be creative and use cinnamon, butter rum, or tutti fruiti as an alternative to peppermint. We offer a wide variety of Lorann flavoring oils and colorings for your selection!
