Assembly of Layer Cakes

p>Always level cake layers before assembling tiers. If you don't, your layers may crack or slide after assembly. Place the first layer (with top leveled) top-side down. Ice or fill; then, place second layer (with top leveled) on top of the first. This provides a flat, smooth top surface for decorating.
