Apple Cheese Spread

Sauté 2 tablespoons of chopped onion with 1 tablespoon of butter until softened. Add 1 cup of pared and chopped Golden Delicious apple and cook until tender, then cool. Blend 3 cups of finely shredded cheddar cheese and a 3 ounce package of softened cream cheese with the apple mixture. Spoon into a serving bowl and chill till ready to serve. For a variation: add 2 tablespoons of dry sherry, 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds or 1/2 teaspoon of curry powder.
